Matthew is a writer, filmmaker and lawyer. His journalism has appeared in The New York Times, Mother Jones, and Slate, and his creative work in The Rumpus, Pinch Journal, and The Deadlands, among other places. The Hollywood Reporter called him “a talent to watch” for his debut feature film as writer/director, The Skin of the Teeth. He was previously a litigator at WilmerHale focusing on antidiscrimination issues, including fighting for the right to abortion in Ohio and challenging Virginia’s felon disenfranchisement scheme. He is currently working on a book about the legal industry.
